Over this upcoming Year of Faith, we will be offering many reflections on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, that authoritative interpretation of the Second Vatican Council given to the Church twenty years ago.
But here I wanted to recommend what I have found to be a most useful summary look at the fundamental outlines of the content of the Catechism, Outlines of the Catholic Faith. It’s clear, brief, faithful and amazingly affordable. AND there’s a Spanish edition!
I have used it to great effect as a tool for teaching the Catholic faith.
I am so happy Pope Benedict has called for this Year of Faith! America is in a faith crisis so this is perfect timing! Fr. Mitch Pacwa, S.J. from EWTN has written “The Year of Faith: A Bible Study Guide for Catholics” – I heard that Scott Hahn recommends this book as a “A timely resource for getting the most out of the Year of Faith.” http://www.ignatiusproductions.org/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IP&Product_Code=7420
