The working document for the October Roman Synod on the New Evangelization is packed with rich fare as it lays out a vast field of inquiry into the meaning and mission of the New Evangelization.
The is Synod helps kick off the Year of Faith, and will focus on how Vatican II, and its ever-spreading post-Conciliar wake, can serve as a force to plunge the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ deep into the heart of the 21st century.
My favorite line from the document is the quote from Pope Paul VI:
Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses. […] It is therefore primarily by her conduct and by her life that the Church will evangelize the world, in other words, by her living witness of fidelity to the Lord Jesus, by her witness of poverty and detachment, and by her witness of freedom in the face of the powers of this world, in short, the witness of sanctity.
Just take a look at the document, and look at a few of the topics to whet your appetite.
